Health and Wellbeing

The Future Focus Network have teamed up with London Excelsior Sports Club to provide a number of health, sport and recreational activities for young people across East London.

We offer young people from East London access to organised and structured recreational activities that will not only increase their physical activity/wellbeing and promote good overall health, but also provide increased cognitive, educational, and social development opportunities. We intend to do this by providing both indoor, (classroom based) coaching and educational activities, whilst also delivering fun, outdoor, sports-based sessions. This dual approach will enable us to offer a wide range of activities suitable for young people from all backgrounds, abilities and interests.

Some of our previous projects and events:

As a long established community organisation, we have facilitated a number of activity and sports based events within the local community. Our projects are usually targeted to the younger demographic and those from low income households, or from marginalised communities.

Sports based Programmes:

We have run a number of both indoor and outdoor sports and fitness based programmes which have been hugely successful. As part of this project, we would like to continue running these projects on a weekly basis.

Family Picnic and Sports Day:

In Summer 2021, we organised a Family Picnic and Sports Day for the local community. The event took place at Valence Park in Dagenham and was attended by many young people and their families as well as representatives from the local council.

Below are some quotes from the local residents and young participants:

“I had a great day. This is just what our community needs. We’ve had a really tough past year or so and people feel really worried and anxious. It’s not great for our mental health. But events like this are a great way to get outdoors and reconnect with people”.

Emmanuel – Local Resident:

“I had so much fun at the sports day. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to come at first, but I’m really glad I did!”

Safa Ahmed, aged 10.
